It may have been an exciting 12-try thriller, with two consolation bonus points, but the 41-36 result still left the Island side slipping eight points behind league leaders London Welsh.

As Wimbledon Hornets the club was a founder member of the Rugby Football Union in 1871, six years after being established. After a break around the time of the First World War, the club was re-established in 1927, and 60 years later moved to their present home in Beverley Meads, when they began the league era playing in Surrey Division Two.
Wimbledon’s league status has fluctuated over the past 28 years, but with an underlying upward trend. The greatest height involved seasons in National 2, albeit they were unable to stay there in both 2017/18 and last season, when a respectable haul of 44 points wasn’t enough to avoid relegation.
The live action at CoinShares Park will be followed by Six Nations rugby on TV as Ireland host England at 4.45pm.
JRFC Women will return to action next Saturday, away to Medway, and will play Canterbury on home turf on Sunday February 23rd.
