British & Irish Lions and Ireland rugby legend Conor Murray will be the special guest and keynote speaker at this year’s Pre Siam Cup Dinner, taking place on Wednesday 13th May at Jersey Rugby Club.

Conor Murray played scrum half for Munster, Ireland, and the British & Irish Lions. Renowned for his tactical kicking, physical defence and decision making, he won multiple Six Nations titles, including two Grand Slams, and was named in the 2010–2019 World Rugby Men’s 15 Team of the Decade. Across his distinguished career, Conor earned 125 caps for Ireland and made eight Test appearances for the British & Irish Lions, before retiring from rugby last year.

The Pre-Siam Cup dinner celebrates one of the world’s oldest and most fiercely contested rugby rivalries, ahead of this year’s Siam Cup fixtures which take place in Guernsey on Saturday 16th May. Gallagher’s support of the occasion reflects its long standing commitment to the competition, as headline sponsor when the match is hosted in Jersey and sponsoring the Pre Siam Cup Dinner when the contest takes place in Guernsey.

Gallagher is a global insurance, risk management and advisory firm, with a strong connection to rugby and sport at both community and professional levels.

Jersey RFC Chairman Dan McAlister said: “Gallagher has been a tremendous supporter of rugby in Jersey in recent years as part of the company’s deep involvement in the sport at all levels – it’s great they are sponsoring our Pre-Siam dinner and helping to bring over one of the leading players of the past decade for the event.”

The Siam Cup is an annual rugby union match between Jersey RFC and the Guernsey Raiders, first contested in 1920 and recognised as the second oldest international rugby trophy in the world, with the original displayed at Rugby HQ, Twickenham. It is always a standout occasion in the sporting calendar, bringing together supporters from both islands for a competitive and memorable fixture.
