The last game of 2024 at CoinShares Park will feature hosts looking to finish the year on a high against one of the form teams in Regional 1 South Central.

Making their first-ever visit to Jersey, Hammersmith and Fulham have won three of their last four games to move away from the foot of the table.

The home team, meanwhile, saw league leaders London Welsh move 10 points clear at the top of the table as a result of the postponement of the Island side’s scheduled fixture at Old Alleynians as a result of the travel disruption caused by Storm Darragh.
With the trip to Dulwich now rearranged for January 25th, Myles Landick’s squad will be aiming to keep London Welsh – who host third-placed Camberley this weekend – in their sights.

The recent run of good form by the ‘Hammers’ followed a run of six consecutive defeats earlier in the season, including a 36-17 defeat by Jersey in September on their home turf at Hurlingham Park, London SW6.

Landick and his coaching team have made some changes to the squad for this game, with the stand-out selection being Aaron Penberthy’s return at fly-half for the first time this season. The veteran will partner Callum Cuthbert at half-back, while Dan Barnes and Scott Van Breda team up in midfield and there’s a debut for Mini and Junior graduate Lance Armstrong on the wing.

A second debut comes in the front row, with Morgan Brady lining up at loose-head and Huw Owen shifting across to the number 3 shirt, while there’s also a recall for Nathan Thomas in the back row.

After today, there’s just one more game before a short festive breather – a trip to Brighton lined up for next Saturday.

Jersey RFC Women are in action for the last time in 2024 this Saturday, with a trip to Dartford Valley.

Jersey RFC (15-9, 1-8): Mark Boarer; Bevan Biggs, Scott Van Breda, Dan Barnes, Lance Armstrong; Aaron Penberthy, Callum Cuthbert; Morgan Brady, Jack Macfarlane, Huw Owen, Max Ayling, Camerson Keys, Nathan Thomas, Evan Whitson (capt), George Willmott. Replacements: Tom Wilson, Bryn Edwards, Tom Bulfin
